Rehabilitation and Therapy

Rehabilitation at Canal Winchester offers post-hospital, outpatient, and inpatient rehabilitation services in the central Ohio area. If you have experienced a hospitalization, surgery, or acute medical event, we’re here to help you recover.

Your goals are our goals. After an initial assessment upon admission, we’ll work with you to determine how best to support independence, mobility, and self-care. You’ll be able to leave here with a renewed sense of self-confidence and an improved level of function.

Our rehabilitation wing offers a comfortable, friendly environment with well-appointed accommodations and furnished private rooms, all equipped with full baths, including walk-in showers, basic cable services, and Wi-Fi. We offer physical, occupational, and speech therapies, as well as a wide variety of services, amenities, and programs. Both inpatient and outpatient therapies are available.

Skilled Nursing/Long-Term Care

When a senior can no longer stay safely at home or needs more help than assisted living can provide, long-term care can help. Canal Winchester offers long-term care and skilled nursing services for Ohio seniors as part of our continuum of care.

We care for your loved one like you would, with patient-directed care and a personalized approach. Each resident receives the support and care they need from a professional and welcoming staff. You’ll be kept in the loop with care conferences and are welcome to visit anytime with 24-hour visitation.

Like any Canal Winchester resident, your loved one can enjoy our dining program, services, amenities, and activities.

Respite Care

Respite care can be defined as a short-term stay for a loved one to allow a respite, or recovery time, for the caregiver. Some of the reasons a caregiver might seek a respite care stay for their loved one include a planned surgery, vacation, or needed time to manage their stress and personal health and well-being.

Canal Winchester offers short-term stays that can vary from a few days to a few weeks. We provide a furnished respite suite for your loved one with access to a nursing team 24 hours a day, with a personalized plan of care.

Respite-stay guests at Canal Winchester receive the same patient-directed care as our residents. This includes a compassionate interdisciplinary team that ensures their individual needs are met as well as access to numerous services, activities, and amenities.

It’s typically best to plan ahead for a respite care stay, but we understand that it’s not always possible. If an urgent need arises, feel free to contact us to check our availability.

Dining Services

Chef delivers plate of food to residents

Dining at Canal Winchester features delicious, chef-prepared meals and resident-directed menu items. Our dining services team focuses on two primary goals: selection and enjoyment. We also have registered and licensed dieticians who work with residents to create therapeutic diets that allow for resident choice.

Residents are offered flexibility through multiple dining locations and times. For special occasions, residents can host guests in the dining room. Guests are always welcome to dine with residents in the main dining room as well. Room service is available upon request.


“My 85 yo mom was in this facility when she fell and broke her leg. She went through PT, regained her strength, and came home after a couple of months. Fast forward 5 years, she had a heart attack and needed skilled nursing. We opted to place her here again. It was as clean, fresh, and beautiful as I had remembered. Carley and Charlotte helped me through permanent placement and finances, and I am so appreciative. Her PT group, Rachel, James, Patrick, and Jeff REALLY tried to engage with Mom, but honestly, I think she was just ready to give up and didn’t want to participate. You folks are my heroes. Nursing staff, techs, and cleaning crew engaged with Mom and made her smile daily. I am very grateful for that as well.”
